Universal Tower Defense Z Best Units by Role

Pick the slot first. The best unit for a Ground DPS slot is not automatically the best unit for a Hill, Support or Farm slot.

Filters are in the URL, so a shared link reopens this exact result.

2 tied top-band matches shown first; Best Units by Role uses published bands for slot selection, not an invented within-band score. Each card explains the fields that made it through the filter.

How Best Units by Role handles ties and limits

The filter is useful because its limits are visible.

This is a picker for choosing what to field in one slot, not another global tier list. It filters the current unit roster and groups matching rows by the published tier order: S+, S, A, B, C, then D. Role and element narrow the slot; the bracket at the end of a name is treated as its sourced evolution stage. Documented Synchro pairs add context to a result, not a made-up numerical bonus. For a complete roster view, comparisons across every band, and its own role and element filters, use the tier list.

Best Units by Role does not choose a winner when the top band has more than one match. The tier source is Pro Game Guides' post- Update-4.0 ranking, cross-checked against Destructoid, and it publishes tier bands rather than per-unit DPS, cost, range, or placement statistics. This site compiles named sources and does not play the game, so "best" here means "highest published tier among units matching this slot"; tied units remain tied rather than being separated by an invented score or alphabetical order.

Not verified yet. Rarity is unavailable in this tool on purpose. The source has a rarity column, but this repo did not transcribe it row by row; a partial rarity field would imply checks that were never made. The bracket labels are evolution stages, not Mythic or Legendary labels. No DPS, attack speed, range, cost, drop rate, or rarity value is invented here.

Best Units by Role: top tied recommendations

A quick slot answer when you already know the job. Every unit in a role's highest published tier band is shown as a tie; open the picker above for element or stage constraints.

Questions players actually ask

What are the best units in Universal Tower Defense Z?
There is no single best unit for every slot. This picker filters the sourced roster by role, element and the evolution stage written in the unit name, then puts the strongest published tier bands first. It is a role answer, not a replacement for the global Update 4.0 tier list.
Does this picker use rarity?
No. Rarity is deliberately unavailable in this site's Unit data because the source column was not transcribed row by row. The bracket in a name is an evolution stage, not rarity, so this tool never calls a unit Mythic or Legendary.
How is the ranking calculated?
Matching units are grouped by the published tier order S+, S, A, B, C and D. Units with no sourced tier are placed after tiered units. When several matching units share the top band, Best Units by Role presents every one as a tie: the sources publish bands, not per-unit performance statistics that could rank them within a band. Role, element and evolution stage filter the result; Synchro pairings explain context but do not create an invented score.
Why are some units missing from a role result?
A null role or element is a stated data gap, not permission to infer one. A unit only appears in a filtered result when the matching field is published in the roster data. Clear the filter to see all units, including those with Unknown fields.
